The swift proliferation of intelligent networks, encompassing Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystems, cloud infrastructures, 5G/6G communications, software-defined networks (SDNs), and smart city platforms, has markedly heightened the complexity and magnitude of cybersecurity threats. Conventional security measures frequently fail to identify and react to advanced intrusions in real time. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a formidable tool for augmenting cybersecurity via intelligent threat detection, anomaly recognition, automated incident response, and predictive risk evaluation. AI-powered cybersecurity solutions utilise machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and behavioural analytics to enhance network resilience and refine security decision-making. This chapter examines the ideas, designs, technologies, and applications of AI-driven cybersecurity frameworks for smart networks, while addressing implementation obstacles, privacy issues, and future research avenues in intelligent network defence.
