Artificial Intelligence (AI) is progressively utilised to tackle intricate societal issues and enhance the quality of life in many societies. Although technology progress has expedited innovation, it is imperative to ensure that AI systems are ethical, inclusive, transparent, and congruent with human values. Human-Centered AI (HCAI) prioritises the design, development, and implementation of AI systems that enhance human capacities, advance social welfare, and ensure equitable access to opportunities. Integrating participatory design, ethical governance, community involvement, and inclusive innovation frameworks enables Human-Centered AI to enhance social innovation projects, bolster community development programs, and promote sustainable and inclusive economic growth. This chapter examines the ideas, methodology, applications, problems, and future trajectories of Human-Centered AI, emphasising its transformative capacity to foster resilient, equitable, and human-centric societies.
